Maddy Siegrist · Knowing entirely well that 2024’s season could be defined by how well they survived the absence of their two-time All-Star, the Dallas Wings could at least be assured that Maddy Siegrist’s contributions would arrive with 100 percent effort. On one of the few possessions that she wasn’t hustling, Siegrist provided Dallas with something just as effective: 100 percent accuracy. Ahead by two with midnight approaching in the final quarter, Siegrist stations along the far right 3-point corner before letting fly a game-clinching dagger. The play itself — Siegrist in the deep corner and her All-WNBA teammate driving downhill — was déjà vu from two plays prior, in which Dallas turned Chicago’s lack of interior help into a wide-open layup. Making excellent use of her extended time, Siegrist guided the second unit with 13 points (on efficient five-of-nine shooting), five rebounds, one assist, three blocks, and one 3-pointer. Siegrist’s play helped Dallas, who trailed the Chicago Sky for 30 of a possible 40 minutes, snag a season-opening come-from-behind win on May 15, 2024. · State of Mint · State of Mint
