The Houston Rockets hosted a block party on the road and all of the Dallas Mavericks were on the guest list. Six Rockets had multiple rejections and they came in all sorts of ways — Kenyon Martin Jr. suspends in midair for a perfectly-timed block on Christian Wood, who also gets thwarted from behind by Kevin Porter Jr. on a subsequent possession. One of Daishen Nix’s two swats leads to a Martin Jr. layup on the other end, while Jabari Smith Jr. shows no mercy when snuffing out a Spencer Dinwiddie drive to the rim. The Mavericks also tried floating an alley-oop but Alperen Şengün wasn’t having any of it on one of his team-high five blocks, and Usman Garuba ties a bow on his 5-for-5 shooting performance with a denial of Dinwiddie in the paint. The 19 blocks Houston registered were the franchise’s most since it blocked 20 shots on the same date 38 years earlier.
