David Robinson · The Admiral entered the final game of the 1993-94 regular season trailing Shaquille O'Neal by just 0.06 points per game. Coach John Lucas fed Robinson through double- and triple-teams all night against the Los Angeles Clippers, and he answered with a career-high 71 on 26-of-41 shooting and 18-of-25 from the line. The performance surpassed George Gervin's Spurs record of 63, set the same way in the 1978 season finale, and placed Robinson among only four players in league history to top 70 in a game. A 112-97 victory on April 24, 1994 sealed a final average of 29.8, edging O'Neal's 29.3 for the only scoring title of a Hall of Fame career built around two championships and an MVP.
