For the first time in his 15-year career, Brook Lopez is an All-Defensive First Team selection. A member of the Second Team in 2020, the Milwaukee Bucks center was even better in his fifth year with the franchise as he finished runner-up to Jaren Jackson Jr. in Defensive Player of the Year voting. Lopez led the league in blocks for the first time in his career with 193 while ranking third in blocks per game with a career-best 2.5. He logged an NBA-best six games of six blocks or more, including a career-high and league-high for the 2022-23 season nine rejections against the Brooklyn Nets on March 9. Lopez also led the league with 1,362 contested shots — nearly 450 more than the next closest player. Teams shot just a shade over 50 percent at the rim against him, and Lopez finished sixth in the NBA in individual defensive rating. A two-way threat on both sides of the ball, Lopez averaged 15.9 points per game on a career-high 37.4 percent from behind the 3-point line.
