Midway through the second quarter of opening night in Dallas, the 7-foot-4 phenom got the rock, baited his defender into the air, and attacked the rim with authority. Elevating through contact, Wemby contorted his enormous frame for a driving reverse dunk that sent the Dallas crowd into stunned silence. For a second-half encore, Wemby snatched a fellow 7-footer’s shot attempt, pushed the ball in transition, and delivered a handle–stepback 3 combo that shouldn’t be possible for a player his size.
